Edward decided to slip out through the side door unnoticed and return in a few minutes, when everything was over. He had already taken a few steps when the music suddenly stopped.
Isabella had finished the dance. Breathing heavily, she remained standing in the middle of the hall. Silence fell. Several guests were still smiling, waiting for the prince’s reaction.
