During the wedding, my mother-in-law poured red wine on my white dress. All the guests—and even my fiancé—laughed at me, calling it just a joke. But just a few minutes later, I did something that made my mother-in-law deeply regret what she had done 😱

From the very beginning of our relationship, my mother-in-law was against me.
She didn’t like absolutely anything about me. She believed her son deserved a girl from a wealthy family, not an ordinary schoolteacher like me.

At every meeting, she found a way to hurt me. Sometimes it was sharp remarks, sometimes mockery, and sometimes outright humiliation disguised as kind advice.

At first, I tried not to pay attention. I thought that over time she would get used to me. But it only got worse.

When we announced our engagement, she didn’t even try to hide her dissatisfaction.
She smiled when her son was around, but as soon as he left the room, her expression changed immediately.

“You will never become part of our family,” she once said to me quietly.

I told my fiancé about it, but he just shrugged.

“You take things too personally. Mom is just joking.”

I started hearing that phrase more and more often:
“She’s just joking.”
“Don’t pay attention.”
“That’s just her personality.”

Over time, I realized that my future husband would always find excuses for her behavior.

But the wedding had already been organized, invitations sent out, guests invited, so I hoped that at least on that day everything would go peacefully.

How wrong I was.

The wedding was held on a luxurious yacht. In the evening, the deck was decorated with lights, music was playing, guests were taking photos against the sunset, and I finally began to believe that this day could be happy.

After the ceremony, everyone raised their glasses.

My mother-in-law approached me with a smile.

“Let’s take a beautiful photo as a memory,” she said.

I turned toward the photographer.

At that moment, the woman suddenly lifted her glass and poured all the red wine directly onto my dress.

Scarlet streaks instantly spread across the white fabric. Silence fell over the deck.

For a few seconds. And then laughter broke out.

First, my mother-in-law laughed. Then her friends. Then the guests. Some even started recording what was happening on their phones.

I stood in the middle of the deck, looking at my ruined dress. What shocked me most was not my mother-in-law’s act. It was my fiancé’s reaction.

He was laughing too.

Not as loudly as the others, but he was laughing.

Then he looked at me and said:

“Don’t be upset. It’s just a joke.”

At that moment, something inside me seemed to break, and suddenly I did something that made my mother-in-law deeply regret what she had done 😲😲 The continuation of this story can be found in the first comment 👇

I slowly looked at my mother-in-law. She was still laughing.

Then I walked up to her.

“Is this really funny to you?” I asked calmly.

“Of course. You should see your face,” she replied and laughed again.

I nodded.

Then, unexpectedly, I took her by the hand.

My mother-in-law didn’t even have time to understand what was happening.

With one sharp movement, I pulled her toward the edge of the yacht.

A second later, the woman fell into the water with a loud scream.

Silence fell over the deck again.

This time, no one was laughing.

The guests looked down in horror. Someone rushed to the edge.

My fiancé turned pale and shouted:

“What are you doing?!”

I slowly turned to the crowd.

“What happened?” I asked calmly. “It’s just a joke, isn’t it?”

No one answered.

I looked at my fiancé.

“Why is no one laughing? Or is it only funny when I’m the one being humiliated?”

People began lowering their eyes.

Some guests looked visibly embarrassed—even those who had been laughing the loudest just minutes before.

Meanwhile, my mother-in-law was struggling in the water near the yacht, shouting for help.

They immediately threw her a lifebuoy, so she was not in any real danger.

But her expensive makeup was ruined, her hairstyle fell apart, and her dress was completely soaked.

I took the ring off my finger and placed it in my fiancé’s hand.

“Thank you for showing me whose side you’re really on today.”

After those words, I turned around and walked toward the gangway.

Behind me, there were shouts, noise, and angry voices—but I didn’t look back.

That evening, I lost my wedding.
But I kept my self-respect.
