Twenty-six-year-old Emily had been working as a nature reserve inspector for three years. She had come here right after graduating from university and quickly earned the respect of her colleagues. The girl loved animals and genuinely believed she could protect them from people who came to the savannah only for money.
What worried her most was a group of poachers that had been operating in the reserve for several months. Each time they appeared in a new place. They left behind traps, dead animals, and tire tracks. The reserve management tried to catch them, but without success.
One day, Emily happened to notice a truck moving through a restricted area. She decided to follow it. Hiding among the bushes, the girl saw what they had been searching for over many weeks. Several men were loading ivory and rare animal skins into the vehicle. Emily secretly filmed everything and immediately sent the footage to management.
A few days later, the police conducted an operation. Several warehouses were discovered, part of the cargo was confiscated, and the poachers lost huge amounts of money. But the ringleader managed to escape. It was then that he swore to find the girl who had destroyed his business.
About a month passed. Emily had begun to think the whole affair was over. But one day, during a routine patrol, her SUV suddenly stalled in a remote part of the reserve. She got out to check the engine and immediately realized she had walked into a trap. Men emerged from the tall grass. There were five of them. Among them was the ringleader himself.
Emily tried to run, but they caught her quickly. The men took her radio, bound her hands, and put her in the car. A few hours later, they brought her to a remote part of the savannah, where for miles around there was not a single living soul. In the middle of the clearing stood a large, old tree. It was to this tree that they tied the girl with strong ropes.
Emily struggled with all her might to free herself. She screamed. She begged them to stop. But the poachers only laughed. The ringleader stepped closer and looked her straight in the eyes.
“You cost me too much,” he said coldly.
After that, the men began to leave. One of them turned around and laughed loudly.
“Have a nice time.”
The others joined in his laughter. Within seconds, the truck disappeared into the tall grass. Silence fell. Emily was left alone.
At first, the girl tried to calm herself down. She told herself that someone would surely come looking for her. But time passed. With the arrival of evening, the savannah began to come alive. Strange sounds came from somewhere. Something moved in the bushes. Every new rustle made Emily’s heart beat faster.
At some point, fear finally took over. The girl began to scream loudly. She called for help again and again.
And then something happened that made her blood run cold. From the tall grass, lions appeared. First one. Then a second. Then several more. Within a minute, a whole pride stood by the clearing.
At the front was a huge adult lion with a dark mane. Even from a distance, he looked terrifying. Emily felt her legs go weak. She stopped screaming. The lion approached slowly. The other predators followed behind him. The distance between them shrank with each second. Finally, the huge lion came almost right up to her.
Emily squeezed her eyes shut and braced herself for the worst.
