Not a single nurse lasted more than a week beside the cruel mafia boss. But the new caregiver ordered his armed guards out of the room, and then did something to the patient that left him in complete shock 😳

Over the past month, five nurses had left Adrian Romano’s mansion. One lasted only a few hours, another ran out of the house in tears, even forgetting her bag, and a third threatened to call the police. That same evening, Romano’s lawyer came to see her, and after a short conversation, the woman never told anyone about what had happened again.

Almost the whole city feared Adrian. He ran a huge criminal organization, was used to giving orders, and absolutely could not tolerate anyone contradicting him.

But three weeks earlier, he had been shot.
The bullet passed near his lung, damaged several ribs, and after the operation, inflammation began. The doctors demanded he stay in the hospital, but Adrian refused and ordered a bedroom in the mansion to be equipped with medical equipment.
The problem was that he turned out to be a terrible patient.

He tore off bandages, refused painkillers, shouted at nurses, and several times tried to get out of bed on his own. After another such incident, the wound opened again.

That was when 29-year-old Eva Miller appeared in the house.
She agreed to this job only because of the money.
Her younger brother Daniel suffered from a rare blood disease. The usual treatment hardly helped, and the new therapy cost as much as Eva could not have earned even in several years.
So when an unknown man offered her eight thousand dollars for each week of work, she agreed almost immediately.

The conditions were strange. Eva had to live in the mansion, not photograph anything inside, not ask questions, and perform only medical duties.
At the door, a tall man named Victor met her.
— I am responsible for Mr. Romano’s security, — he introduced himself. — I advise you to remember the main rule: never argue with him.
Eva looked at him.
— If his order threatens his life, I will argue.
Victor smirked.
— That is exactly what the previous nurse said.
He led her upstairs.

Adrian sat on the edge of the huge bed. His chest was bandaged, his face pale, but even now the man looked as if he were the one controlling everything that was happening.
— Another one? — he asked irritably.
— Eva Miller. Your new nurse.
— For long?
— That depends on you.
The guards exchanged glances. Usually no one spoke to Adrian like that. The first two days passed relatively calmly, but on the third evening his condition sharply worsened.

The temperature rose almost to forty. Adrian breathed heavily, but categorically forbade Eva to touch the bandage.
— I said, don’t touch me!
— I need to examine the wound.
— Get out.
Eva did not move. Adrian turned to the guards.
— Get her out of here.
The two men took a step forward, but Eva suddenly said:

— No. On the contrary. Both of you get out.
The room became quiet.
— You are now giving orders to my men? — Adrian said through his teeth.
— Yes. Get out right now.

The guards simply nodded and immediately carried out her order, forgetting that their boss was a completely different person. When they finally were alone, the nurse did something that left Adrian in complete shock 😳😱 The continuation of the story can be found in the first comment 👇👇

He tried to get up, but immediately winced from pain.
— No one removes this bandage.
And then Eva understood the reason.
Adrian was not afraid of pain. He was afraid of showing weakness in front of his people. That is precisely why, in the presence of the guards, he refused help, got up through force, and pretended to be in complete control of the situation.
Eva looked at the guards again.

— Get out and close the door.
This time Victor unexpectedly nodded to the others. A few seconds later, they were alone together.
Eva approached the bed.
— Now no one here will see that you are in pain. So stop pretending to be immortal and let me do my job.

Adrian looked at her for a few seconds, and then for the first time answered nothing.
Eva carefully removed the old bandage and immediately understood that the situation was more serious than it seemed. The skin around the wound was severely reddened, swelling had appeared, and fluid had accumulated under the bandage.
But worse was something else. When Eva pressed slightly near the damaged area, Adrian suddenly cried out and grabbed her arm.

— What are you doing?!
— Checking what I feared.
She immediately called a doctor, despite Adrian’s direct prohibition against contacting anyone without permission. Forty minutes later, a surgeon arrived at the mansion.
The examination showed a deep infection. If Eva had listened to the patient and left the bandage until morning, the infection could have entered the blood and caused sepsis.

Adrian urgently underwent a small repeat operation right in the equipped medical room of the mansion.
In the morning, Eva was packing her things. She was sure she would be fired. Victor knocked on the door.
— Mr. Romano wants to see you.
Adrian lay in bed and looked exhausted.
— You violated two of my orders in one evening.

— Three, — Eva calmly corrected. — I also ordered your guards to leave.
For a few seconds the man was silent.
— Everyone else was afraid of me.
— I was afraid too.
— Then why didn’t you stop?
Eva looked him straight in the eyes.

— Because I am not paid to agree with you. I am paid to keep you alive.
Adrian unexpectedly smirked. And then he placed an envelope on the table. Eva thought it was her last salary, but inside was a check for an amount sufficient for

several months of Daniel’s treatment.
— What is this? — she asked in confusion.
— An advance.
— For what?
Adrian leaned back on the pillow.
— For the next six months of work. It seems I have finally found a nurse who is not afraid to tell me “no.”
