The men sitting by the bench under the shelter first just laughed. Some thought the old man was exaggerating again, while others believed he had simply imagined it after a long morning by the river. But Samir looked too frightened. His hands were shaking, his clothes were wet, and his breathing was so broken it looked like he had been running from something.
— It’s going to fall! — the old man kept shouting. — If it falls, the crocodile will tear it apart immediately!
At those words, the people suddenly fell silent.
Everyone in the village knew that a huge old crocodile had lived under the waterfall for years. Even hunters feared it. Several times people had seen the monster drag wild boars and deer into the water. They said it was so large it could easily overturn a boat.
Within minutes, the men were already running toward the waterfall with ropes and long sticks. The sound of the water grew louder and louder, and when they reached the cliff, many of them froze at the sight.
A huge Bengal tiger was indeed hanging on the slippery rocks, almost above the edge of the drop. The raging water kept striking its body, and its paws were slowly slipping. The tiger roared in fear and helplessness, trying to hold on, but the current was too strong.

Under the waterfall, a massive dark crocodile back appeared from time to time in the raging water. The predator was slowly circling beneath the tiger, as if patiently waiting for it to fall.

With all their strength, the men pulled the tiger upward. The ropes tightened and creaked, the water roared around them, and the animal desperately clawed at the rocks.

The women screamed in terror.
But suddenly, the tiger gently pressed its head against the man’s shoulder, as if thanking him for saving its life.
After that, the beast turned around and slowly disappeared into the jungle.
