A nurse wanted to steal an expensive ring from a deceased man, but when she touched his hand, she screamed in horror 😱😱

Nurse Anna had been working in the morgue for almost three years. During that time, she had gotten used to everything: the icy smell, the silence, the indifference of death. But the more time passed, the clearer she understood: it was impossible to get rich from this job. The salary was barely enough for rent and food, while Anna dreamed of something else — her own house, and trips to countries she had only seen in photographs.

But those dreams were not meant to come true if she continued working honestly. And so Anna made a decision that no one was supposed to know about. She started stealing.

Not from colleagues, not from the hospital — but from those who would never wake up again. People often arrived at the morgue with expensive jewelry, rings, chains, watches. Sometimes even wallets or car keys. Relatives rarely noticed anything missing: they were too shocked by the death itself. And even if they remembered details, in the morgue no one could give a precise answer anyway.

For Anna, it became “easy money.” And one day, a man in his mid-thirties was brought into the morgue. Cause of death — cardiac arrest. Young, not old at all, and clearly from a wealthy family: his clothes were expensive and well-kept. But what interested Anna most was the gold ring on his ring finger. Thick, massive, with a muted shine — clearly not a cheap trinket.

“Probably expensive…” — flashed through her mind.

She decided to wait for the right moment. In the evening, when the on-duty doctor had left and the orderly had taken the stretcher to another room, Anna was left alone with the man. She knew that the cameras in this part of the morgue had long been out of order — the wiring had broken, and no one had repaired it.

Getting closer, she leaned over the man. His face was calm, as if he were simply sleeping. But Anna had seen hundreds of such “sleeping” people — for her, he was not a person, but an object. She reached out her hand and carefully tried to remove the ring.

But the moment she touched the ring, her heart nearly stopped 😱😱

The man’s hand was warm.

She pulled her fingers back and turned pale. For a few seconds she stood there, unable to believe what was happening. Thoughts rushed through her mind: “This can’t be… dead people aren’t warm. I must be mistaken. It’s just nerves…”

But the inner voice wouldn’t stop. Trembling, she touched his hand again, and this time placed her fingers on his wrist.

A pulse. Weak, barely noticeable — but a pulse.

Anna quickly stepped back and covered her mouth to stop herself from screaming. Her head was spinning: the man was alive.

If she hadn’t tried to remove the ring, he would have been declared dead, and tomorrow his body would have been dissected on the pathologist’s table.

Seconds felt like eternity. Anna understood: her habit of stealing had just saved a human life. She ran for help, calling the doctor.

Later it would be revealed that the man had been struck by a rare condition — deep lethargic sleep. His heart had slowed to an extreme level, his breathing had become almost undetectable, and even an experienced doctor had decided he was dead.

But thanks to Anna, thanks to her criminal yet fateful act, the man remained alive.

And only she knew that the reason for this miraculous rescue was not her conscience, but greed.
