Every night my husband waited for me to fall asleep, and then quietly went into my 8-year-old daughter’s room. At first I believed his explanations, but one day I hid a camera there, and when I saw what was happening near her bed after midnight, my hands trembled with horror 😲😱
After my divorce from my first husband, my daughter Sofia and I lived alone for several years. The divorce was difficult, and I worried most of all about the child, so for a long time I did not even think about a new relationship.

Then I met Daniel. He was ten years older than me, worked as an engineer, and gave the impression of a very calm and reliable person. Most importantly, he never tried to replace Sofia’s father and never forced her to call him dad.
That is probably why my daughter quickly became attached to him.
Two years later we got married, and for a while it seemed to me that everything had finally settled down. But soon Sofia began to have strange sleep problems.
She could wake up in the middle of the night and run to me, saying that someone was walking near her bed. Sometimes I found her sitting on the floor near the door. Several times she even woke up in the hallway and did not remember at all how she had gotten there.
I thought these were ordinary childhood fears or sleepwalking.
But about a month ago I noticed another oddity.
Almost every night Daniel got up from our bed around one or two in the morning.
The first time I asked where he was going, and my husband replied that he could not sleep and wanted to sit a little in the living room. Another time he said he was going to drink some water.
I did not see anything suspicious in this until one night I woke up around three o’clock and discovered that he was again not next to me.
I went downstairs, but there was no one in the living room. The kitchen was empty too. Returning to the bedroom, I heard a quiet voice from Sofia’s room.
The door was slightly ajar.
I carefully looked inside and saw Daniel near her bed. Sofia was asleep, and he was sitting next to her, holding her hand.
— What are you doing here? — I asked.
My husband clearly did not expect to see me.
— She woke up again and was crying. I heard her and came to calm her down.
The explanation seemed quite normal, but something else alerted me. If Sofia really woke up almost every night, why had he never told me about it in the morning?
The next day I asked my daughter:
— Sofia, does Daniel often come to you at night?
She was silent for a few seconds, and then said:
— Almost always.
After these words I felt really uneasy.
I did not want to accuse my husband without proof, so in the evening I installed a small camera on the bookshelf so that the bed and most of the room would be visible in the frame.
For three nights nothing unusual happened.
On the fourth night I opened the recording and literally froze in front of the screen. I certainly did not expect this from a loved one 😨😱 The continuation of the story can be found in the first comment 👇👇

At about 02:17 the door of the room slowly opened.
But Daniel did not enter.
First Sofia got up from the bed herself.
Her eyes were open, but she moved as if in a dream. The girl went to the wardrobe, took an old box out of the bottom drawer, and sat down on the floor.
A few seconds later Daniel entered the room.
He immediately went up to Sofia, took the box, and tried to put her back to bed.
But my daughter unexpectedly grabbed his hand and quietly said:
— She called me again.
I rewatched this moment several times, because I did not understand whom she was talking about. And then Sofia pointed her finger at the wardrobe.
Daniel opened the box, took out an old photograph, and looked at it for a few seconds, after which he quickly hid the picture back.
In the morning I waited until Sofia left for school, put the laptop in front of my husband, and turned on the recording.
— Now tell me everything.
Daniel was silent for a long time, and then brought that same box.
Inside were the belongings of my mother, who died when Sofia was only four years old. After her death I put the box away and in time completely forgot about it.
But a few weeks earlier Sofia had accidentally found it.
Daniel admitted that my daughter had begun waking up at night, taking out her grandmother’s photograph, and talking to her. Sometimes she did this in her sleep and afterward remembered nothing.
He had wanted to tell me several times, but Sofia asked him not to.
— She said you would start crying if you found out, — my husband explained.
And it was precisely this part that angered me most of all.
Not because Daniel had done something bad to my daughter, but because an adult man had agreed to keep a secret from me connected with her nighttime behavior.
That same day we took Sofia to a doctor, and later consulted a child sleep specialist. After several conversations it turned out that my daughter had been experiencing her grandmother’s death very hard, although she almost never spoke about it, and the nighttime episodes had intensified after she found her belongings.
