“Immediately after the wedding, instead of taking the bride in his arms, the groom picked up his mother, thereby humiliating his wife: what the bride did shocked everyone.”

Immediately after the wedding, instead of taking the bride in his arms, the groom picked up his mother, thereby humiliating his wife: what the bride did shocked everyone.

Their family had a long-standing tradition: after the wedding, the groom must carry the bride in his arms from the church all the way home. All the guests knew about this tradition, and the bride had been anxious about this very moment since morning — it seemed to her the most touching, the most important part of the day

When the ceremony ended and the last guests came out of the church, the bride and groom appeared at the doors. She stood beside him, smiling, already slowly raising her arms, expecting him to come over, lift her up, and for that moment to become the beginning of their new life.

But everything went differently.

The groom turned abruptly — not to her, but to his mother. She was standing a little to the side, happy and moved. And suddenly, in front of everyone, he scooped his mother up in his arms — just as he should have carried his bride.

They laughed, posed for the guests, the mother wrapped her arms around her son’s neck, and the groom looked utterly pleased with himself.

But the bride stood frozen. Her smile slowly faded, her eyes widened in shock. She felt as if all the air had been knocked out of her. The guests fell silent — literally in an instant. What everyone saw was a clear violation of tradition and a direct humiliation of the bride.

She could barely hold back the tears and the anger rising inside her.

“What are you doing?… This is our wedding,” she whispered, almost losing her composure.

The groom just shrugged:

“This is my mother. And she matters more to me than anyone.”

The bride felt something inside her snap. And at that moment, she had already decided what she would do next… All the guests were shocked by her action. (Continued in the first comment.)

The bride felt her hands trembling. Why did he do that? In front of everyone? At the most important moment? She felt humiliated, as if she had simply been pushed aside.

The guests stood in silence, exchanging glances. Several women covered their mouths with their hands. Someone whispered: “You can’t do that…”

The groom was still holding his mother in his arms, laughing, as if enjoying the attention. He didn’t even look in his wife’s direction.

The bride stepped closer, slowly, so that he would finally notice her. Her voice was quiet, but it immediately wiped the smile off the groom’s face.

“If you think I have to endure everything… you’re wrong.”

She took off her wedding ring — right there, in front of the guests — and dropped it on the grass.

The guests gasped. The groom straightened up, as if only now realizing how far he had gone.

“What are you doing?!” he shouted, trying to free his arms, but he couldn’t drop his mother.

“I’m drawing conclusions,” she said calmly. “If on the very first day of marriage you place me below everyone else… it will only get worse from here.”

She turned and walked away, leaving everyone completely stunned.

The groom finally set his mother down and rushed after her, but the guests blocked his way. Some women even stood in front of him, shaking their heads.

“You ruined it yourself,” one said.

“A husband doesn’t do that,” added another.

And the bride left. She knew one thing: it was better to leave now than to spend a lifetime with a man like that.
