The imprisoned police officer came to say goodbye to his partner, who died because of him… But what the deceased officer’s mother did shocked everyone 😢😨
The officer was arrested after a tragic operation. He was accused of causing his partner’s death, although everything happened by accident. The trial lasted for weeks: testimonies, evidence, arguments… But in the end, the verdict was delivered — seven years in prison.
When the judge gave him his final statement, the man said in a trembling voice:
— I am not seeking excuses. I didn’t want this, everything happened by accident. I only ask — let me say goodbye to him. To ask for forgiveness… from him and from his family as well.
The courtroom fell silent. The judge lowered his eyes, then nodded:
— Alright. But you will go under escort.
On the day of the funeral, the sky seemed to mourn as well. Cold rain was falling nonstop, and the wind was carrying black clouds over the cemetery.
Family, friends, and colleagues gathered. The mother of the deceased stood slightly aside, wrapped in a black shawl. Her shoulders were trembling, her lips whispering her son’s name.
Everyone was crying. No one spoke — only the sound of rain hitting the coffin and quiet sobs could be heard.
And suddenly, police cars appeared in the distance. People turned around. From one of them, a man in an orange prison uniform stepped out, handcuffed, head lowered. He was escorted by four officers.
A whisper spread through the crowd:

When the prisoner approached, everyone stepped aside to let him through. He stopped in front of the coffin, on which the badge and cap of the deceased were placed.
The prisoner slowly knelt down in front of the coffin and whispered through tears:
— Forgive me, brother. Forgive me… I didn’t want this. Every day I think about you. If I could turn back time… I would lie there instead of you.
He lowered his head and started crying. The rain ran down his face, mixing with his tears. The relatives looked at him with hatred, someone clenched their fists, others turned away. But no one spoke, because the police officers were standing nearby, and they didn’t want the funeral to turn into a fight.
And then the mother of the deceased stepped forward. She slowly walked up to the man and stopped next to him. Everyone froze. No one understood what she was going to do.

When he was taken away, he looked back over his shoulder. The mother stood by the grave, watching him. And for the first time in many months, he felt like he could breathe again.
